The End of the Hockey Season?
0 Comments Published by cher on Wednesday, February 09, 2005 at 1:22 PM.Well boys, its down to crunch time. Are we gonna be able to pull the rest of the 2004/2005 season out of the fire?
I think not. The NHL players association and the owners are about as far apart as you can get. Yet there is still talk about a mini, shortened season including playoffs. Why? Many big name players are off doing their thing in Europe. Why don't we just let the season pass, lick our wounds and move on. There is a group somewhere in Western Canada that have found a law that the Stanley Cup has to be awarded by law. Why don't we just forget this season and hope and pray that they get their act together in time for the beginning of next season.
It seems to me, that this whole experience has put a damper on the love for hockey. A great deal of Americans couldn't care less about the game. Gasp! I imagine that this strike has not helped any. Being Canadian, I am a big fan of the game. We are big Toronto Maple Leafs fans in this household. Saturday nights are sacred because thats when "Hockey Night in Canada" is on TV. Why, its a tradition! I grew up watching it as did my dad and my kids and no doubt their kids as well.
Come on boys, lets shake hands and start to play nice and stop being so greedy!
