<< Home T.O. Too Much For His Own Team Monday, September 04, 2006 I would never thought that I would be saying this but here goes nothing: Are you ready for some football? It's that time of the year when girlfriends and wives are ignored (more), guys praise the couch and the TV before church and the utmost and inner fanatic comes out. Yes, I'm guilty for thinking the same way but what the hell, football season is here and my mind is officially lost!! From this point on, if for some reason I'm in the kitchen chopping up veggies and I accidentally cut myself, I WILL bleed silver and blue. Being a Dallas Cowboys fan however, I still see the NFL from non-biased eyes (and that's a promise). If your favorite team is the 49ers, Raiders, Chiefs or whoever, I will make my judgments and comments accordingly. If your team sucks, I will let you know. If my team sucks, well, I haven't figured that part out yet but I will be passionate about my opinions. So here we go!! I want to quickly dive into my first observation of this preseason. We all know that the Dallas Cowboys are supposed to be "America's Team", but many people strongly disagree to that proclamation. The fact of the matter is that they get THE most media coverage around the NFL. And now, its even more media coverage since they have a very entertaining wide receiver on the roster. Terrell Owens is a Dallas Cowboy now and he makes it known in a self written rap that the radio stations are playing. If you haven't heard it, you need to, it's quite funny. I'm telling you, the guy is funny. I could actually see him doing a reality show on himself. He is a joy to watch on the field, and he provides the best sound bites outside of Shaquille O'Neal. When he was a Philadelphia Eagle, he carved up my Cowboys on a Monday night game at Texas Stadium two years ago scoring 3 touchdowns coupled with end zone celebrations. I was on hand for that game and he sent me home with no voice and hurt feelings. He is a well-conditioned athlete who I believe can help my team get to a place where they haven't been in a while and that's playing football in February. HOWEVER, the guy is a football diva. He wants things done his way while playing a team sport. Sounds like an oxymoron? T.O. is the best wide receiver in football and for some reason I think he knows that. He says and does selfish stuff that enrages coaches, fans and teammates. And for some reason when he apologizes, he goes and gets that weasel of an agent Drew Rosenhaus to speak for him. That's a bad idea. We've all heard the "next question" comments from Rosenhaus and it just shows that the blind is leading the dumb. T.O. says dumb things himself. I don't know why he would get someone else to say something stupid when he does just fine by himself. Training camp is supposed to be a time where teams work on plays, getting in sync, and working out. But T.O. is the headline of all stories and articles. He headlines this article because I'm getting a little tired of the excuses and the whining from him. He's now saying his hamstring is hurting. Bah Humbug!! Mr. Owens needs to get his butt out on the field and join the TEAM. Its not the Dallas Owens' or Team Owens, it's the Dallas Cowboys and he is on that same BS that got him booted out of Philly. If this was the Super bowl, the hamstring would be the last thing we would be hearing about. And did you notice how smoothly the Cowboy offense moved the ball down the field against the Saints in that preseason game last week? Drew Bledsoe hooked up with Terry Glenn early and often. Along with Terry Glenn, Terrell Owens, Patrick Crayton, and the rookie Sam Hurd would be an unstoppable quadrant, that's if Owens can get his act right. Terrell, we Cowboy fans would love to have you on the field doing what you do best, instead of doing what you do second best and that's talking junk. You got your money, now its time to get your work in. I'm Tovash Hatcher. 4:53 PM Post a Comment << Home |
