<< Home T.O. Up To His Usual Tricks Monday, September 04, 2006 38 year old quarterback Jeff George has signed with the Oakland Raiders after being away from the NFL for 5 years. This will be the second tour of duty for the ageless wonder. Ex-Raider QB Kerry Collins, who led the Raiders to the Super bowl in 2001, is now joining rookie sensation and UT product Vince Young down in Tennessee. Who am I kidding? Nobody really cares about Jeff George, Kerry Collins or even the Oakland Raiders (no offense to those of you who support the Raiders). Let's face it, one guy dominates headlines in the world of sports: Terrell Owens. America's team is at it again. The Dallas Cowboys are THE talk of the NFL and everybody's favorite wide receiver is in trouble...AGAIN. Monday head coach Bill Parcells greeted the media with, "What is this, the Cuban Missile Crisis?" Apparently, word got out on Monday that Terrell Owens has been fined by the Cowboys in the amount of $9,500 for missing a meeting and a rehab assignment and the media came out in mass quantities. Owens said that he "overslept". The fact of the matter is that T.O. is steadily keeping up with his usual destroy-a-franchise type of shenanigans (I had to spell check that word by the way). On Saturday evening I gathered my blue and white pom-poms, my Roy Williams jersey, and like T.O. says I got my popcorn ready to watch the preseason showdown with the San Francisco 49ers. Everything was going great. Drew Bledsoe and Terry Glenn played catch in the 49er secondary and the Cowboy defense played at a stingy, Mr. Scrooge-like pace by not giving up too many points or yards. During the course of the game I received a text message from a fellow Cowboy fan that read: "Where the h*ll is T.O.??" Let's see. If a guy is not on the sideline during his team's game, he must be really injured, I would even say hospitalized. Terrell Owens was nowhere to be found. Heck, safety Keith Davis had a bullet removed from his thigh the night before and even he was on the Cowboy sideline on Saturday. So Monday rolls around and someone in the Dallas Cowboy organization leaked the information that Owens was fined on Friday. With the Cowboy game rolling around the next day, conspiracy theorists say that Owens missed the game intentionally. I agree wholeheartedly. And Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is furious that the information went public. Jones says that heads will roll once he finds out the loudmouth in the Cowboy compound. Fact or fiction: Owens is a man that is notorious for acting out of spite. Fact. He says and does things that get under people's skin. Back in 2005, Owens went to practice while in Philadelphia and parked his truck in Eagle's head coach Andy Reid's parking space. He then told the media that it was an accident. I hereby dub Terrell Owens the Ron Artest slash Dennis Rodman of the NFL. He has unbelievable talent but aggravates everyone. Either the guy is a pure genius for what he says and does, or he just has a screw loose. We know that Rodman didn't have it all and forget about Artest, he would rather throw haymaker punches at fans than make millions ON the court. Terrell is a very special cat. Some compare him to a snake, a weasel, or a rat. His current head coach refers to him as "the player" or "the guy" and ESPN radio show host Randy Galloway in Dallas/Ft. Worth calls him Lucifer. I don't know what to call him but I'm not seeing positive things coming out of him at Valley Ranch so far. It's very funny that "the player" has yet to play a single down as a Dallas Cowboy. I do know this, if T.O. and his antics continue, I don't expect him to remain a Cowboy for the entire season. Let me go on record to say that if he doesn't shape up, he'll be an ex-Cowboy by Thanksgiving Day. This team is simply too good to have implosions from any player or coach. They have a dominating defense, good kicker, and some very excellent offensive threats. I see this team going far if Owens can take the "ME" out of TEAM.
